GOULBURN CYCLE RACING
ROAD RACETRACKCriteriumvirtual-RacingGCC has a history of road racing in the Southern Highlands, and host races almost every week of the year – on Saturday during the winter road racing season and on Wednesday and Friday nights during the Summer night racing season. Our flagship events are the Acciona Gunning Wind Farm Goulburn Great Divide road race and the Goulburn Workers Junior Tour.
Racing can often appear daunting for those new to racing – so we try to take the intimidation out and set you up with a buddy to help you through everything.
Our road races are run with the following formats:
• Criterium: A short circuit that is closed to all traffic. The race is timed, plus a number of laps (eg 30 minutes, plus 2 laps).
• Kermesse: Generally take place on longer courses (ie 2km plus), or the course may have restricted traffic on it. As per a criterium the race is timed, plus a number of laps.
• Road Race: Taken place on the open road, where the road is open to normal traffic. All normal road rules apply while racing – and you can be disqualified for not obeying them. Road races are raced over a set distance.
